Dejero, an innovator in cloud-managed solutions that provide video transport and Internet connectivity while mobile or in remote locations, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. This marks a decade since Bogdan Frusina founded the company in June 2008, with a focus on the development and refinement of innovative network blending technology.

Since its launch, Dejero has supported international newscasters with live broadcasts, on-location services, and connectivity at the most prestigious sporting events including Olympic Games and Euro and World Cup tournaments; significant political events such as G7 conferences, elections, and inaugurations; and monumental historic events like the funerals of world leader Nelson Mandela and celebrity Muhammad Ali, and most recently the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This year, Dejero will have managed over 10 Petabytes of data traffic, an impressive and fitting number to round off its 10th year. Counting one byte every second, it would take over 317 million years to count 10 Petabytes.

“From my experience providing connectivity on political campaign trails, I witnessed first-hand the challenges news reporters had not being able to file a story from a campaign bus. I founded Dejero to provide a reliable connectivity solution over a mobile connection,” said Bogdan Frusina, founder of Dejero. “This is just the beginning though. In a world where mobile connectivity is changing the future of how we communicate and share content and information, reliable connectivity is more important than ever before. We’re thrilled to have hit this 10-year milestone and look forward to the decade ahead.”

Instrumental in paving the way for broadcast firsts, Dejero enabled the first live coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games torch relay, delivering unprecedented live coverage following the torch as it travelled 45,000 km across Canada. In 2013, another first enabled Sky Sports to broadcast live from all 92 English Football Clubs in a single day. Using revolutionary wireless technology, Dejero blended multiple cellular connections and provided enough bandwidth to deliver high-quality live broadcast content, at significantly less expense and complexity of traditional video transport technology.

“Our unique network blending technology enables news organizations to report live from remote locations and moving vehicles, broadcasters to cover long distance sporting events and reality shows, as well as a host of other applications including enabling police services to monitor crowds from moving vantage points in real-time to ensure public safety,” said Bruce Anderson, CEO of Dejero. “We have an incredible team that has made our 10-years of success happen, and we thank our employees, both past and present, for their dedication to hit this milestone. We also wouldn’t be here today without the support of our customers, partners, and investors. We’re looking forward to many years of continued success ahead,” concluded Anderson.

As Dejero evolved, so did its solutions. Performance and features of its rugged transmitters improved to simplify customer use. Equipment designs progressed to be more compact supporting the need to be mobile, and picture quality continued to improve with solutions now supporting HEVC technology. The company’s success did not go unrecognized. In 2014, Dejero was named 4th on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 (Canada) and 9th on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 (North America) and remained on the lists for three years in a row. The company has won numerous industry and publication awards in its first decade, including the IABM Broadcast and Media (BaM) 2018 ‘Connect’ award for Dejero CellSat this year.

Dejero’s connectivity solutions provide fast, reliable, and secure connections to the Internet and private networks by intelligently blending cellular, satellite, and any other wired or wireless IP connections from different network providers—offering dependable and secure bandwidth to broadcasters and organizations needing to transport data over IP. With the addition of Dejero GateWay mobile connectivity and Dejero CellSat blended cellular and satellite connectivity this past year, Dejero offers complete connectivity solutions encompassing equipment, software, services, analytics, and support featuring its intelligent network blending technology.
