Imagine Communications, empowering the media and entertainment industry through transformative innovation, will be exhibiting a range of advanced solutions at CABSAT (March 21 – 23, 2017, Dubai Exhibition Centre, UAE, stand B3-10) that deliver convergence through streamlined, sophisticated delivery systems for both traditional broadcast and over-the-top (OTT) media companies. Demonstrations will include Ultra HD (UHD), IP-based operations, live production workflows, advertising management and multiscreen delivery, in virtualised and cloud-based solutions.

Visitors will also see the first results of the strategic partnership between Imagine Communications and Siemens Convergence Creators. The alliance integrates the Smart Video Engine, Siemens Convergence Creators’ modular and open online video platform, with Imagine Communications’ multiscreen media and advertising delivery solution. Together, they give video service providers a one-stop shop for VoD, live and linear, and cloud DVR services with sophisticated dynamic advertising insertion to generate revenue from subscription, targeted advertising and hybrid monetization models.

“As a major global player with a strong and enduring presence in the MENA region, we look forward to CABSAT, not just to showcase our latest products but to talk to the broadcast, media and entertainment companies in the region,” said Mathias Eckert, vice president of EMEA at Imagine Communications. “In the comfortable and professional environment of CABSAT we can discuss the plans of our key customers, and demonstrate how our software-defined, IP-centric, virtualized and cloud-based technology can give them a competitive advantage to monetize content across both traditional and multiscreen delivery.”

Other CABSAT demonstrations will include the HD Versio™ integrated playout platform, with industry-leading automation, server and graphics technology for implementation on premises or in the cloud, providing multi-channel playout and branding with a new user interface. To enable efficient content management, the Nexio® Motion™ integration and workflow platform for intelligent media movement will be demonstrated alongside Nexio® Insight™ digital asset management and Nexio® Ingest Suite for baseband and file-based ingest.

With growing interest in UHD delivery, the Nexio+ Channelbrand™ multichannel branding solution will be demonstrated. A software tool running on a Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) server, it combines integrated branding, data-driven content and video playout functionality to allow broadcasters to get UHD services on air quickly and simply. A Versio-powered Microsoft Azure-based cloud playout platform will also be showcased, demonstrating how it can accelerate new channel launches, giving media companies more power than ever to extend their brands and reach new audiences.

Imagine Communications will showcase its xG Schedule™, a next-generation, cloud-based planning and scheduling system which unifies content and advertising management across all linear and nonlinear platforms, including on-demand, mobile and streaming. Integration with other Imagine Communications ad management software, including Landmark™ sales, rights and scheduling and Broadcast Master™ planning, will be demonstrated.

Aimed at converged media companies, SelenioFlex™ Live provides superior live encoding for high-value applications, from cloud DVR to live-event streaming to OTT delivery of linear channels. With multi-format output flexibility, software-based upgradeability, and rich ABR streaming format support, SelenioFlex Live enables operators to reach audiences with superior quality to the broadest range of devices. Its capabilities extend to UHD encoding, and it draws on the underlying power of the Zenium™ workflow manager.

Adding to its already extensive multiscreen offering, Imagine Communications will highlight its ground-breaking Selenio™ One software-defined platform. This uniquely agile platform helps content and service providers increase revenue by launching more channels in constrained networks such as cable and satellite, while maintaining high video quality. Typical of the highly effective products which can be built on this architecture is the Selenio One XO, a high-density adaptive bitrate (ABR) transcoder for OTT applications. Running on HPE hardware, it can deliver as many as 720 ABR profiles or 360 HD linear channels in a single server.
