Stability in a rapidly changing media landscape

Argosy, a leading international supplier of broadcast and AV cables and infrastructure products, is addressing the real issues of engineers and systems architects at IBC2019 (13 – 17 September, Amsterdam, stand 10.C51). In a time of rapid change and development, where more content is being created than ever before, Argosy is a one-stop source of all the underlying infrastructure which the new media landscape demands.

“New entrants to the media landscape, like Netflix and Facebook, have driven a massive boost both to the amount of content to be created, and its quality, with 4K and HDR Ultra HD now commonplace,” said Chris Smeeton, director at Argosy. “Add in the transition from traditional architectures to IP connectivity, and engineers have to run just to stand still.

“Argosy has compiled a comprehensive range of hardware products and solutions, which can significantly ease the pain of building new systems for production, content management and delivery,” he added. “Our goal at IBC2019 is to talk to existing and new customers about how we can support them through understanding their challenges and having the right equipment on our shelves, whether that is a drum of fibre or intelligent 100 gigabit ethernet switches.”

The company’s origins in cables and connectors mean that today it has the clean room technology to fabricate and repair complex fibre assemblies, as well as stocking a comprehensive range of copper and fibre cables and matching connectors. It can supply pre-formed cable reels for all applications including camera fibres.

Building on that, Argosy now offers a range of active hardware, from intelligent power supplies to managed switches for high-capacity IP or 12G SDI. The Canare range of 4K Ultra HD SDI cables, connectors and patch panels meet a real need today will be showing for the first time at IBC2019, as will the Allied Telesis range of expandable, stackable, automated ethernet switches that provide the deterministic control media installations require.

Visitors to the Argosy stand at IBC2019 will also see the Barnfind range of fibre adaptors which allow designers to quickly create complex infrastructures – enabling data streams such as lighting control to be routed alongside audio and video. To declutter control desks and make post houses more productive, the low-latency, 4K-ready keyboard/video/mouse technology from kvm-tec delivers high availability convenience.

“Because we are deeply embedded in the broadcast, media and AV industries, we understand the real day-to-day challenges facing our customers,” Smeeton concluded. “Our goal is to be the voice of reassurance on the end of the phone, analysing the issue and delivering the solution. Conversations at IBC are central to that goal.”

Argosy can be found at stand 10.C51 at IBC2019.
