Newly formed position to drive sales and optimize growth in the Middle East
Harris Broadcast, a market share leader of content management and network infrastructure solutions serving the global broadcast, communication service provider, government and enterprise markets, has appointed Paul Wallis to the new role of director of sales for the Middle East. Wallis joins Harris Broadcast from Media Group International (MGI), one of the largest systems integrators in the region.
“The Middle East region is incredibly important to Harris Broadcast where we continue to win major projects with leading broadcasters like Al Aan TV and Kuwait TV,” said Mathias Eckert, Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “We firmly believe that the best way to serve broadcast and media companies locally is by having the very best people based on the ground. Paul is ideally suited to support our customers’ day-to-day business needs across the region.”
Wallis spent 20 years in sales and business development at Sony before moving to MGI in 2007. At MGI, he oversaw a dramatic rise in the company’s fortunes as it won a new reputation for systems integration, specialising in innovative solutions carefully tuned to the needs of the region. He will remain based in Dubai, working as part of a large team in the region.
“Paul is a well-known leader who has lived and worked in the region for very many years, and will be a strong guiding presence as we bring new innovation and system architectures to this incredibly demanding and vibrant market,” said Mr. Eckert. “We very much look forward to this year’s CABSAT with Paul leading our team.”
“Our industry is undergoing huge changes as we move from traditional proprietary broadcast hardware to software-defined systems,” said Mr. Wallis. “Harris Broadcast is the one major manufacturer that understands these seismic shifts, and I am relishing the challenge of working with broadcasters, production companies and delivery networks in the Middle East to implement the best of cutting-edge technology.”
Paul Wallis will be on the Harris Broadcast stand at CABSAT2014, Hall 7 C7–10 where visitors will experience real-world, end-to-end media workflows that enable the delivery of revenue-generating content — from digital terrestrial television (DTT) over fixed and mobile devices to next-generation TV Everywhere applications.
