Selenio media convergence platform enables intelligent, efficient management of both IP and baseband signals via a single 3RU or 1RU solution
Harris Broadcast, a market share leader of content management and network infrastructure solutions serving the global broadcast, communication service provider, government and enterprise markets, today announced that it will demonstrate its latest IP solutions at BES 2014, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India, 14-16 January 2014 (hall 12A, booth 86).
Leading the BES 2014 display is the company’s next-generation Selenio™ IP media convergence platform, including the recently introduced Selenio MCP1. The original Selenio media convergence platform broke barriers as an all-in-one, 3RU signal compression, networking and processing solution – addressing baseband video, audio and IP-based content. The next-generation platform, Selenio MCP1, delivers the same capabilities in a compact 1RU package – a more than 50 percent reduction in rack space. The Selenio MCP1 expands the platform’s value proposition of building, managing and monitoring broadcast and media infrastructures to a wider customer base.
“IP infrastructure will eventually become the norm across the industry, assisted greatly by advanced compression technologies,” said Pablo Gargiulo, president of global sales at Harris Broadcast. “While this shift will ultimately drive cost savings and new capabilities, the transition period also presents challenges. This is why we will be showcasing our advanced technologies at BES2014, like the Selenio media convergence platform, which plays an important role in making this transition period as cost-effective and smooth as possible for our customers.
Further supporting the acceleration of IP connectivity is the Harris Broadcast Platinum™ IP3 router, which will also be on display at the exhibition in India. Platinum IP3 is the latest evolution in Harris Broadcast’s innovative router technology, bringing the industry-leading capabilities of the proven routing line to customers with even the largest system requirements. Like the rest of the acclaimed Platinum line, the new large router integrates mixed-format video and audio routing, multiviewer functionality, mux/demux, frame sync and advanced I/O options such as MADI and fiber — all within a single, space-saving frame.
Addressing automated playout and workflows, Harris Broadcast will feature Versio™, the industry’s most complete integrated channel playout solution. Versio has been designed to fit easily into a broadcaster’s existing infrastructure, and takes the key elements of proven Harris Broadcast automation, server, graphics and branding technologies and implements them in a highly resilient, 1 RU form factor.
These innovative solutions will be demonstrated alongside the company’s leading line of video servers that provide flexible playout solutions, as well as its storage, networking, transmission and digital asset management solutions.
