Company to showcase Industry collaborations and market-proven converged media solutions

[19 January 2017]

Imagine Communications, empowering the media and entertainment industry through transformative innovation, will have a commanding presence at the Convergence India 2017 exhibition (Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, 8 – 10 February 2017, hall 12 booth D52). The company will use the event to feature the advanced solutions that will deliver real convergence through streamlined, sophisticated delivery systems for broadcast and over-the-top (OTT) media enterprises.

The commitment to end-to-end solutions is underlined by the strategic partnership between Imagine Communications and Siemens Convergence Creators, a global multi-industry company providing, among other things, OTT and TV everywhere solutions. Central to the strategic alliance is the integration of the Smart Video Engine, Siemens Convergence Creators’ modular and open online video platform, with Imagine Communications’ CloudXtream™ media and advertising delivery solution. Together, they give video service providers a one-stop shop for VoD, live and linear, and cloud DVR services that leverage sophisticated dynamic ad insertion capabilities to generate revenue from subscription, targeted advertising and hybrid monetization models.

“Convergent media solutions are happening now: the path to success for content distributors and owners is to ensure that there is strong monetization in place to provide a commercial return on the investment in technology,” said Joe Khodeir, senior vice president Asia Pacific at Imagine Communications. “That is why the Imagine solution is genuinely end-to-end, covering commercial and revenue elements as well as the technology platform to deliver the content. Only when the two are aligned will the media enterprise truly succeed. And that is what we are demonstrating at Convergence India.”

Imagine Communications will also demonstrate its HD Versio™ IP playout and graphic workflow solution for implementation on premises or in the cloud. The demonstration will focus on supporting compressed or uncompressed IP-based playout, advanced multichannel playback and branding. Versio features a new user interface, new automation features and Imagine Communications’ native IP and hybrid playout and master control solutions, which seamlessly unify playout, automation and graphics supporting fully virtualized deployment.

Aimed at converged media companies, SelenioFlex™ Live provides superior live encoding for high-value applications, from cloud DVR to live-event streaming to OTT delivery of linear channels. With multi-format output flexibility, software-based upgradeability, and rich adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming format support, SelenioFlex Live enables operators to reach audiences with superior-quality, live viewing experiences across the broadest range of devices. Its capabilities extend to UHD encoding, and it draws on the underlying power of the Zenium™ workflow manager.

For high density applications, SelenioNext™ is an all-in-one TV everywhere solution covering ingest, transcoding, packaging, encryption and streaming of large numbers of channels in a single appliance, based on commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware. SelenioNext can support as many as 320 HD ABR streams in a single 2RU server.

“Advances in standard hardware, allied to innovative software, have sped the IP revolution,” concluded Khodeir. “Through initiatives like AIMS, the Alliance for IP Media Solutions, standards are now widely recognized and media companies can plan best-of-breed solutions with confidence. IP-based platforms are now able to deliver the robustness, precision and reliability needed to handle the most demanding media operations and the adoption of these next-generation architectures will enable broadcasters throughout India to expand their businesses and maintain their competitive edge without sacrificing quality, reliability or disrupting their current operations and investment cycles.”
