Major MENA supplier shows how broadcasters can make a smooth transition to new architectures

Imagine Communications, a global leader in video Infrastructure, advertising management and workflow solutions serving media networks, broadcast stations, on-line and communication service providers and enterprise markets, today announced it is focusing on the mission-critical transition to IP technologies for the broadcast and media industry at CABSAT 2015 (10 – 12 March, Dubai World Trade Centre, United Arab Emirates). Presentations will focus on content lifecycle technologies, from creation to multi-screen delivery, emphasizing the transition from traditional baseband infrastructures to software-defined networks.

“The industry must move to new technologies,” said Paul Wallis, Sales Director for the Middle East and Africa at Imagine Communications. “The advantages are too clear to be ignored. Software-defined networks and IP connectivity make broadcasters and facilities more agile, scalable and cost-effective.  Broadcasting simply cannot continue to demand bespoke hardware and interfaces.

“We will show at CABSAT that Imagine Communications is not only ahead of the pack with our technology, but that we can help our customers develop their transition strategies to an IP-enabled future,” he added. “We have solutions that allow businesses to replace their legacy systems, while still protecting their current investments and achieving the benefits of the new approach from day one. We recognise that no company will discard its existing viable baseband infrastructure. That’s why we offer practical solutions to help our customers move seamlessly and smoothly to an environment based on IP, software and the cloud.”

A key solution supporting this transition strategy is the Imagine Communications Magellan™ SDN Orchestrator, a next generation control system that allows traditional and IP-enabled workflows to be managed from the same interface. Magellan will be demonstrated at CABSAT alongside a wide range of other Imagine Communications’ end-to-end solutions, including: the latest generation of the Nexio® server, including Nexio Studio Suite, Nexio Ingest Suite, as well as quality control and asset management applications; the widely-respected ADC playout automation alongside the Versio™ integrated playout and channel-in-the-cloud solutions; editing solutions with the Velocity XNG™ software, which accesses content directly on the Nexio server network; as well as Landmark™ Agency enterprise advertising agency software for advanced planning, rights and scheduling.

Also on display will be solutions based on the Selenio™ platform for delivery in multiple resolutions, formats and streams simultaneously. The Selenio Next high-density solution for bulk content providers and CDNs, and the Selenio Flex™ low-density solution for content owners and broadcasters, both provide high performance adaptive bitrate transcoding for cross-platform delivery. Imagine Communications works with Minerva, a leading provider of service and subscriber management tools, to create complete OTT and IPTV platforms, and a turnkey solution will be demonstrated at CABSAT.
