ON>DEMAND is the latest, interactive source for materials from Video Arts, the leading name in business training. The infrastructure to support the service is provided by Vualto, global specialists in innovative content delivery and management.

Video Arts was founded in 1972 with the aim of providing effective business training through funny and engaging scripts and well-known actors. The recipe remains effective today, but the company needed a way to deliver its huge catalogue online, to any device. The content needed to be tailored not just for different screen sizes but the different styles of learning on each device. The delivery platform also needed to track each individual’s learning progress, and to provide management analytics.

The company turned to Vualto to design a complete bespoke system, including content management, repurposing and user interfaces. Working with the Brightcove Video Cloud platform, Vualto developed a cutting edge system which incorporates encrypted streaming for online delivery, and secure DRM downloads for offline viewing.

The sophisticated user interface is flexible to suit all training opportunities. It provides seamless, high quality presentation in-group learning sessions, and individual interaction using familiar, iPlayer-like operation. The new Video Arts ON>DEMAND service went live on 5 October and is already proving extremely popular with customers.

“We have the best video training content in the industry, featuring stars from John Cleese to Sheridan Smith,” said Sally Winter, head of marketing at Video Arts. “What we needed was a more flexible way of delivering our content, matching the new ways that our customers wanted to use it – our video resources are all about making business interactions more effective, so we could not let technology get in the way of delivering them!

“Vualto understood all our requirements, including the need for tracking and analytics to measure engagement as well as simply getting the content out,” she continued. “They built exactly the platform we needed, taking us from a system that was restricted by viewing platform to one which responds to our customers, in the way they intuitively expect, across the widest possible range of platforms and devices.”

Camilla Young, CEO and co-founder of Vualto added, “We are delighted to be working with an industry leader like Video Arts. Building this sort of platform means we have to bring together a number of skills: secure streaming and delivery, of course, but also content management, usage tracking and analytics, and perhaps most important a simple, seamless user interface. That is just what we do at Vualto: help our clients who will not want to get involved in the underlying complexity by delivering a single solution that just works.”
