Ultra HD playout, IP processing and hybrid SDI/IP control among the demonstrations
HONG KONG, 31 May 2018 – At BroadcastAsia2018 (26–28 June, Suntec Singapore), Imagine Communications will showcase technologies designed to help media companies successfully navigate an industry in transition. To underline its depth of support to the flourishing Asia-Pacific market, Imagine will present its demonstrations in collaboration with two local partner companies: Broadcast Engineering Services Pte. Ltd. (Level 6, booth 6F3-04) and Broadcast Technology Ltd. (Level 4, Booth 4T1-01).
“The Asia-Pacific market has really taken on the commercial and creative opportunities that the latest technologies have opened up,” said Jason Li, sales director, Asia Pacific, at Imagine Communications. “At BroadcastAsia2018, we will illustrate our support for this forward-looking region as it pursues these opportunities through demonstrations of proven next-generation solutions that media companies can deploy and benefit from today.”
Ultra HD, including 4K and HDR, has the potential to attract significant audiences, particularly around major live events and blockbuster programming. At BroadcastAsia2018, Imagine will demonstrate a complete Ultra HD playout and master control chain utilizing Versio™ Platform microservices-based integrated playout software, advanced graphics, content management and automation tools — showcasing ingest from SDI, as well as from multiple SMPTE ST 2110 IP streams. This next-generation solution provides highly automated and integrated multichannel playout functionality, including internally upconverted HD-to-UHD output, while performing dynamic graphics with DVE, as well as advanced audio track routing.
IP connectivity is now accepted as the route for the future of television, as it opens up the potential for unprecedented agility via software-defined architectures running on standard platforms. At BroadcastAsia2018, Imagine will demonstrate its award-winning Selenio™ Network Processor (SNP) —a next-gen, FPGA-based 1RU solution which functions as both an SDI-to-IP gateway and an all-IP-capable signal processing platform. Working in conjunction with the Magellan™ SDN Orchestrator software control system, the SNP demonstration will illustrate a real-world installation which switches and interworks between HD, Ultra HD and uncompressed real-time SMPTE 2110 streams.
Imagine will also demonstrate its software-based EPIC™ MV multiviewer, which provides a single canvas for mixed signal types. Scalable to thousands of PIPS and hundreds of displays, EPIC MV offers a high-quality, low-TCO monitoring solution for today’s hybrid environments and a seamless transition path to an IP future. The operationally flexible system will be shown combining HD, Ultra HD and IP inputs into a single, synchronised display. Versio, SNP and EPIC MV are all powered by Zenium™, Imagine’s pure microservices-based software platform.
“The Asia-Pacific market is hugely important to Imagine Communications, with some of our most advanced installations deployed in the region,” Li added. “We value our attendance at BroadcastAsia very highly, as it provides a unique opportunity to talk with key decisionmakers and help influence the pace and direction of change across this innovative region.”
