Partnership commits to ‘Quality of Experience’ through dynamic delivery optimisation

Voddler Group AB, the cloud-streaming innovator, has signed a partnership with OTT experience management company, Conviva, which will see Voddler Group’s VoddlerNet and Conviva’s Precision and Conviva’s Experience Insights combine to create an online video delivery solution that guarantees the highest quality viewing experience on any device, anywhere and at anytime. The solution is particularly appropriate for emerging markets, where connectivity and bandwidth are often a challenge.

VoddlerNet combines controlled peer-assisted delivery with direct streaming from the source provider. This unique hybrid video streaming solution greatly expands the reach of streaming video services while maintaining the highest possible Quality of Experience (QoE). Precision is part of Conviva’s Intelligent Control Platform, which gathers continuous telemetry from billions of streams, allowing it to build a real-time performance map of the Internet. Precision relies on this data to continuously and automatically optimise both the streaming configuration of the source of a user’s video content and the choice of CDN. The integration of Conviva Experience Insights delivers real-time QoE metrics, giving users confidence that their customers’ expectations are being met. Together, the systems will optimise the video source quality, streaming configuration, and delivery paths, delighting customers with an amazing viewing experience each and every time.

“Conviva is the perfect partner for Voddler, because both companies share a passion for quality of experience,” said Adam Lewis, CEO of Voddler Group. “They have taken their expertise in measuring quality of service and quality of experience, and built onto it products that react to the insights their analytics provide. VoddlerNet’s ability to continuously adjust for every service subscriber even during periods of high demand or for users without the best quality broadband service allows us to ensure the highest possible video quality and viewing experience at all times.”

Lisa Loe, VP of Worldwide Channels at Conviva, added, “Marrying our analytics and optimised video streaming configurations with VoddlerNet provides a more streamlined solution that ensures the best viewing supplemented by traditional CDN services. Our combined solution uses analytics to ensure that the most resilient and best performing path is used to reach more customers, helping to ease congestion during peak traffic times. Together we guarantee the best possible viewing experience, all the way from the service provider to the end user on any device, leading to increased engagement.”

VoddlerNet is designed to provide quantum improvements in quality of service over any network and on any device. Turning every customer device into a lightweight, self-aware edge server, it creates an intelligent swarm of video sharing nodes. The more the customer base grows, the more efficient and resilient the system becomes, enabling dramatic growth. VoddlerNet offloads up to 98 per cent of broadcasters’ and service providers’ CDN traffic, making room for more high quality services and customers without investing in additional infrastructure or CDN capacity. VoddlerNet is DRM agnostic and regarded as highly secure by the most demanding of content owners, making the solution perfect for VoD providers offering high quality video entertainment anywhere.

Conviva provides a 360-degree, real-time view of the Internet to give VOD platforms the insight and control they need. With billions of streams monitored annually, content publishers can see every single viewer’s QoE, benchmark it against consumer expectations and industry standards, and automate optimisations accordingly. The result is increased engagement, greater brand affinity and a more profitable online video business.
